There are weddings that feel borrowed from somewhere else. Jessica and Nick’s, at Worsley Court House, felt like it belonged exactly where it was.
Craig and I photographed it — Travis Photo, from just up the road in Worsley. The Court House sits in Salford’s own hands, timber and chandeliers and that Main Hall that holds a roomful of people without needing to shout. We weren’t discovering the place. We already knew the light. What we were looking for was them: the quiet before, the held breath, the way a day softens once everyone you love is in the same room.
Morning was small things done carefully. A bow tie straightened twice. A laugh that landed and stayed. Then the ceremony — warm wood, soft voices, and that walk back through faces that already knew how this story ends and still wanted to watch it happen.
We don’t ask couples to stand and perform for half an hour. When Jessica and Nick needed air, we stepped outside for a little while — a few frames, a short walk, nothing that stole the afternoon — and then back into the hall as it turned from ceremony into something looser and louder and kinder.
That’s the work we like best. Two of us, so one can stay with the floor while the other finds the quieter corners. Pictures that aren’t arranged for a screen. Just what was there.
